Summary

Under the Direction of the General Manager, direct the overall production operational strategies to support and align with Daybreak Food's business objectives. Key Responsibilities Oversee the supervision of the day to day operations of the production department and coordinate animal welfare documentation and compliance requirements. Responsible for animal husbandry and flock management to insure the needs of the birds are met to include daily inspections of the barns and complex. Address any issues that are found during the daily inspections of the complex or barns and follow-up as needed. Create and implement policies and procedures as needed. Recommends improvements in production methods. Manage the purchasing of needed parts, departmental budget, labor hours and inventory control process. Effectively manage staff by providing coaching, training, and direction as needed to staff; including new hires. Ensures performance appraisals are provided in a timely and effective manner. Respond to performance issues and provide development opportunities and/or feedback. Coordinate safety programs and training sessions for the production department and assist other department managers as needed. Verify that effective safety practices and procedures are being followed. Attend weekly departmental meetings to provide progress reports for the production department, which includes issues with personnel, equipment, safety, and/or other pertinent information. On-call for the environmental alarms. Monitor the environmental controls throughout the day to verify operational success. Address any issues or concerns that are noted during this monitoring. Coordinate contract crews, transportation, and processing for all bird moves. Maintain records for internal animal welfare auditing and record keeping, as well as the records for compost, wetlands and lagoons. Participate in companywide semi-annual inspections with ODA, EPA, and the County Health Department. Coordinate all third-party testing for potable water, stream systems, compost, and soil samples Maintain CLM and Mortality Composting Certificate. Ensure correct rate of application, setbacks, storage and handling are all maintained within regulatory standards. Communicate with nutritionist and the feed mill any special needs or changes. Generate reports to the corporate office Coordinate with the feed mill to monitor the progress of feed deliveries, diets, and safe feed/safe food program. Analysis the previous day's number with the supervisor to determine if adjustments need made. Follow-up on maintenance projects as well as any contractor projects that are taking place on-site. Education and/or Experience Bachelor degree in business management, poultry science or related field, or equivalent experience preferred. CLM and Mortality Composting Certificates preferred. Two to Five years of experience working in an animal farming operation. Prior poultry farm management or other livestock management experience is preferred.
