Title: Facilities Technician I

Reports to: Facilities Supervisor

Location: Holland, MI

Technicians: Starting pay ranging from $23 to $28 per hour

Summary:

This position will perform maintenance tasks on a variety of equipment and systems throughout the facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintain a wide variety HVAC Systems and equipment, including but not limited to, Chillers, Boilers, and AHU’s

  • Maintains proficiency with the Building Management System (BMS) and makes recommendations to the Maintenance Supervisor on upgrades to maintain efficient operations

  • Works with other maintenance workers and staff to resolve maintenance problems and coordinate services

  • Coordinates inventory of parts, tools, etc. that are kept in stock

  • This position will also support the Energy Engineering Department with projects

  • Contact manufacturers to perform warranty work on the equipment

  • Properly maintain areas with Clean and Dry Room ratings

  • Report to the Mechanical Engineer on mechanical equipment issues

  • Be responsible for 1 or all of the following areas:

  • Maintain Utility equipment such as storage tanks, piping, boilers, chillers and compressors

  • Maintain HVAC systems including the equipment, duct work, and Clean and Dry room equipment

  • Maintain process supporting equipment such as mixers, coater ovens, Dust collectors, activated carbon filters, hot oil boilers, and regenerative thermal oxidizers

  • Responsible for understanding the equipment programming and be able to alter temperatures and simple programming

  • Coordinate with outside sources to schedule maintenance for more complex issues

  • Ensure work is completed in a safe manner and maintain a safe work environment

  • Check equipment regularly to ensure normal operating activity

  • Monitor data from measuring devices

  • Monitor HVAC and room conditions for optimal production

  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:

  • Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain

  • Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container

  • Follow LGESMI existing cleaning SOP’s during downtime (e.g. line stop, waiting time, etc.), which includes cleaning your designated machine and/or surrounding work area

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required;

  • Vocational Certificate or Associates Degree preferred or equivalent, relevant experience

  • Considerable knowledge of tools and techniques used in maintenance and repair of large buildings

Experience:

  • 1 to 3+ years of previous work-related skills, knowledge, or experience with advanced education or training

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Creative, innovative, and solutions-oriented

  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Technically proficient and motivated to continuously improve

  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend building plans, wiring, diagrams and schematics

  • Technical communication skills to relay information to Facilities Engineer and suppliers

  • Experience in a clean-room or dry-room production environment working with automated equipment

  • Comprehensive understanding of Production & processing equipment

    Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for a period of up to 12 hours

  • Safety glasses

  • Steel-toed shoes

  • Latex gloves

  • Nitrile gloves

  • Respirator

  • Must be able to do the following repeatedly for a period of up to 12 hours up to 7 days a week

  • Lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds

  • Stoop, twist, bend

  • Reach overhead

  • Sit and/or stand
