Title: Senior Copywriter, Kitchen

Location: Hoboken, NJ

Reports To: Copy Manager

Newell Brands is searching for a seasoned copywriter to join our Content Team, support a diverse portfolio of iconic consumer goods brands including Marmot, Coleman, Graco, Baby Jogger, Crock-Pot, Calphalon, Rubbermaid, Sharpie, Elmer’s, and Yankee Candle, and more.

This role will work with our Kitchen Brands (Crock-Pot, Mr. Coffee, Calphalon, Rubbermaid and more), so a history or strong interest in cooking or kitchen brands is a plus. The right candidate for this role is comfortable presenting and defending copy and creative ideas to multiple stakeholders. The senior writer will have a strong aptitude for concepting brand voice and campaign strategies, with the ability to probe deeply into creative briefs. This writer also demonstrates a keen eye for detail, able to execute copy for email campaigns, product descriptions, packaging, paid social, and more. The right candidate for this role is comfortable working independently, can set their own priorities and multitask well, but is also a true collaborator and always open to learn. They must be adaptable and able to switch between tone of voice while navigating content across different brands. They value consistency, accuracy, and enjoy a fast-paced and flexible work environment. Experience in eCommerce is a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategize, refine, and deliver on brand promise, tone, voice, and personality

  • Develop and pitch quarterly campaign concepts and partner with cross-functional stakeholders on planning and briefing

  • Leverage collaborative tools like Miro and project management platforms to problem solve, anticipate timeline shifts, and create new processes as needed

  • Conceptualize, write, and edit brand marketing content—including emails, product copy, packaging, website copy, banner ads, SEO copy, special projects, and more.

  • Work closely with designers to align copy with visuals

  • Work with producers/project managers and other stakeholders to deliver copy in accordance with business needs and on deadline

  • Stay abreast of innovations and best practices in ecommerce creative

  • Leverage web analytics, customer insights, and user feedback to optimize content impact

  • Adhere to internal, brand, and retailer style guides to maintain content standards

  • Performs other tasks as needed

Key Qualifications:  

  • The successful candidate will be a proven team contributor with experience in retail, e-commerce, or CPG direct-to-consumer

  • 4-6 years of copywriting work experience; 1-2 years as Copy Lead/Senior writer preferred

  • Experience creating social ads and campaigns, SEO best practices, working on new product launches, and brand strategy.

  • Demonstrated integrity and maturity, and a solution-oriented approach to challenges

  • Ability to operate independently given direction

  • Ability to work well with both speed and simplicity

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Interpersonal savvy; an ability to effectively work with and connect with all levels of employees across multiple functions and geographies

  • Detail-oriented and operationally-focused

  • Ability to adapt to various rounds of feedback from multiple stakeholders and pivot accordingly

  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple activities and assignments simultaneously

  • BA in English or Creative Writing, or relevant work experience

  • Experience or strong personal interest in working with Cooking or Kitchen Brands is a plus
