Davis Tool, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Material Handler I. The Material Handler I is responsible for moving jobs from one operation to the next to maintain smooth work flow and helping manage the backlog at work centers. Successful candidates will move up quickly to a Material Handler II. We expect successful candidates will learn the skills needed to move into a career at Davis Tool in our Supply Chain Management, Scheduling, or Manufacturing Departments.

This position is part of our leadership pipeline career pathway and can lead to high level carers in this or other departments for the right candidate.

Monday – Friday workweek:

Grave Shift – 11:30-7:12 (15.3% shift differential)

Daily tasks include:

  • Using job tracking software to retrieve specific records, input data, and create reports to determine work required

  • Transporting materials using forklifts, pallet jacks and carts

  • Distributing jobs and materials in inventory and manufacturing areas

  • Organizing and maintaining work flow through staging areas and in short-term storage.

  • Walking, standing, lifting, pulling, pushing, bending and moving material in a 200K square foot facility for a full shift

  • Lifting and handling of heavy objects weighing up to 75lbs.

  • Communicating with leaders and peers about problems and possible solutions

  • Accurately counting parts

  • Measuring performance against time and quality standards

  • Keeping work areas clear, delivering tools or consumables to work centers

  • Managing time and multiple priorities appropriately

  • Bending, Stooping, Pushing, Pulling, Twisting, and Turning for an entire shift

  • Moving internal mail

    We are looking for candidates with the following attributes:

  • Strong verbal communication and teamwork skills

  • Good reading, writing, computer, and arithmetic skills

  • Strong mechanical, analytical and organizational skills

  • Valid Driver's license

  • Attention to detail and work accurately

  • Leadership experience or have taught or trained others

  • Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
