JOB SUMMARY

Execute maintenance operations as directed to assure tasks are performed to ensure facilities are safe and in clean condition for public use. The position requires manual work of a routine and unskilled nature in the operation of County parks. Work involves both heavy and light physical labor in a wide range of park maintenance activities. Assignments may occasionally include the performance of semi-skilled duties learned on the job. Routine work is subject to general supervision, but specific instruction and close supervision are given for all new assignments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Clean BBQ pits, restrooms, picnic areas, and camp areas; mows grass, haul garbage, and cut and haul trees, and prepare athletic fields for use.
  • Operate mowing machines, tractors, trucks, snow removal equipment, chain saws, and similar equipment, skid-steer, and small dump truck.
  • Performs minor repairs, such as replacing rotting boards on picnic tables and paintings, replacing washers on plumbing, replacing screens and glass panes on windows and doors, receptacles, light switches, and lights.
  • Meets the public and gives information concerning park facilities, rules, and regulations.
  • Opens and closes park facilities with the changing seasons by winterizing plumbing and cleaning equipment and structures.
  • Assists as a laborer in the maintenance of equipment and park amenities and construction of park facilities.
  • Perform daily opening and closing of assigned park facilities and other related work as assigned.
  • Attends department and safety meetings.
