**[JOB SUMMARY [Performs a variety of semiskilled maintenance and construction work for roadways, storm drainage and other public works facilities and systems. Specific tasks and duties have been identified as essential for the successful performance at this position.   • Operate a brush mower
  • Maintain a variety of records relating to materials hauled, work performed, job location, hours worked, etc.
  • Perform required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement patching, ditch digging, shoveling, jack hammering, chain sawing, and other physical labor necessary.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
  • Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor; cleans equipment.
  • Operate light and medium-sized construction and power equipment, such as air compressor, brush chipper, brush hog, chain saw, and jackhammer.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Place traffic control devices and perform duties as flagger for work zone traffic control in compliance with the Countys standards and guidelines.
  • Perform some work as part of the Countys Emergency Operations Plan.
