Description:

Actalent is currently seeking an Engineering Buyer for a reputable company that focuses on drainage products and services that deliver solutions for the most persistent and challenging water management problems. Their innovative products and superior drainage solutions are used across a broad range of end markets and applications, including residential, non-residential, agriculture and infrastructure applications. This candidate will start as a consultant through Actalent with the opportunity to go on direct with the customer after 6 months. Primary Job Responsibilities: - being mechanically inclined - understanding of how tooling works and how its designed - experience buying capital equipment (tooling and other manufacturing equipment within engineering space) - ability to work with Engineers and have the know-how to push back on certain things - ability to negotiate Agreements with vendors - contractual/legal language - as well as evaluating costs with vendors - run RFP's and evaluate quotes and coordinate with stakeholders (ask the right questions, able to identify issues before they happen) - working with suppliers - being able to make sure suppliers provide enough details with quoting - issuing PO's - capture right information - strong attention to detail - ability to negotiate on price and terms - must have record of such results to be considered - lead weekly meetings with suppliers on their project schedule to plan and implement get well plans - report out to stakeholders on progress - support category strategy development after getting up to speed - ability to travel 20% of the time to supplier/client sites

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must have Bachelors Degree - Engineering or related field preferred - Must have at least 5 years of engineering exposure (understanding of tooling) - Must have at least 5 years of Procurement/Buying experience within CapEx - sourcing actual equipment/tooling rather than product materials - Must have extensive experience in Agreement negotiations (be able to articulate contractual/legal language) and be able to provide detail around evaluating cost (manufacturing costs, etc.) - Ability to run RFPs, evaluate quotes, negotiate pricing/terms, be in supplier facing role - Technically inclined - ability to push back on engineers and know how product is designed and made - Someone who is assertive and shows strong initiative
