Home Depot Studio Coordinator, Carpenter in High Point, North Carolina

Position Purpose:

The Carpenter role builds and finishes sets, both interior and exterior, for The Home Depot's photography studio. While the skillset for a Studio Carpenter is very similar to Carpenters in other fields, the application of these skills is quite unique. Studio sets, both interior and exterior, are often temporary and require a different approach in their fabrication.

The Carpenter will build set parts, cabinetry, and sometimes furniture that will be used in the fabrication of photography and videography sets. The Carpenter then erects and installs these sets in the studio or on location, complete with finishing work such as complex molding installation. Set builds can be as simple as a small bedroom or as complex as a large kitchen or deck.

The Carpenter role works the most closely with the Paint Department and the Art Direction / Interior Design department. This role requires physical strength, the ability to work solo or within a team, high-level problem-solving skills, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work comfortably in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 60% - Production Management - Ensure work is consistent with brand standards. Ensure the smooth running of workflow and adherence to correct process, while keeping all teams informed and up-to-date and ensuring that deadlines are met.

  • 10% - Quality Assurance - Provide quality assurance of deliverables, ensuring work aligns with brand standards and platform guidelines.

Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must continuously stand or walk or regularly requires lifting/handling/carrying material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years relevant carpentry experience preferred

  • Physical stamina

  • Good organizational skills

  • Understanding of technical drawings and good math skills

  • Attention to detail
