Fairview Health Services Unit Assistant, Behavioral Health, Full Time in Hibbing, Minnesota

Fairview Range is looking for a dedicated Unit Assistant (UA) for our inpatient Behavioral Health department in Hibbing, MN.

Fairview Range provides a continuum of mental health services, including inpatient, outpatient, and our Partial Hospitalization Program. Our inpatient Behavioral Health department expanded in 2016 and now includes two inpatient, acute psychiatric units. Both units treat a range of mental health issues in adult patients.

Schedule: This position is Full time, working 72-80 hours per two weeks. 8-hour Night shifts and every other weekend (1 & 3).

Benefits: This position is eligible for benefits.

About this unit

The Behavioral Health UA assists in direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, performs clerical duties, assists with unit maintenance, and other duties as assigned.

  • 34 beds between 2 units

  • Multidisciplinary care team including Psychiatrist, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, RNs, LPNs, Unit Assistants, Social Workers, and Mental Health Practitioners.

  • Patient population: adult (ages 18+)

Unit Assistant Responsibilities

  • Assists in implementation of the plan of care.

  • Records patient obtained data in the medical record.

  • Accepts responsibility for completion of orientation.

Unit Assistant Job Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age. Documented one year free from chemical use problems.

  • Graduation from high school or GED examination. Graduation from a Nursing Assistant program or equivalent experience.

  • Must be able to complete clerical component of Unit Assistant orientation provided by facility.

  • Demonstrates ability to learn and retain medical information and terms.

  • Capable of functioning under pressure and in stressful situations.

  • Give and receive information. Understand and follow written and oral communications.

  • Manages personal stress and emotions to respectfully interact with others.

  • Maintains composure in difficult situations.

  • Current BLS certification or attends BLS class within six months of employment and maintains certification. Current BCS certification or attains within six months and maintains certification.

  • CNA preferred.
