JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible to provide support to the perioperative staff, anesthesia and surgical faculty by effective and timely communication as well as facilitating the flow of surgical patients. Patient flow involves direct communication with a wide variety of care providers and may encompass multiple departments. This position is responsible for covering the responsibilities of the Control desk 24/7 and is a key stakeholder in the daily operations of the surgical schedule.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma with 1 to 2 years of experience in secretarial, administrative, or office support field required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Extensive computer skills and ability to work with computerized systems.

Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Ability to use basic office equipment (i.e. copiers, printers, fax and scanning).

Ability to prioritize and manage time.

Ability to make decisions quickly.

Accurate keyboarding/data entry skills.

Ability to work in an intense, high stress, very fluid environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BCLS preferred
