The Hershey Company Sr Engineer, Process Design & Implementation in Hershey, Pennsylvania

Sr Engineer, Process Design & Implementation Location: Hershey, PA * Summary:* The Sr Process Engineer reports to the Sr. Manager of the Process Design & Implementation group and will primarily be based out of the Technical Center in Hershey, PA.   The Sr Process Engineer will, with moderate direction, participate in the conceptual and detailed engineering design, execution, and implementation of low-to-medium complexity projects requiring functional and industry expertise while developing relationships to help deliver business results. This position requires a critical thinker who is developing their capability to demonstrate and apply technical knowledge, and who is developing problem solving and optimization skills. This position will work collaboratively with both technical and business partners, with a developing capability to communicate technical subject matter in verbal and written form cross functionally and with their manager. The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity and be developing leadership attributes.    Travel expectations for this role –   * This position will require domestic and international travel at times to support the ongoing business. Travel is project dependent.  * Remote work may be considered dependent on project location.   *   Responsibilities:*   * Engineering design and cost estimation for capital projects supporting North American    manufacturing.  * Implementation & Execution of capital projects to support North American Manufacturing. * Problem solving through application of technical acumen and creative thinking * May manage process-focused capital projects.   You will interact and partner with these teams –   * Other Corporate Engineering functions (Project Management, Electrical, Packaging, Civil, Utilities) * Plant Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Safety, and Quality Assurance * Quality and Regulatory Compliance * Environmental, Health, and Safety * Operations Business Development * Technical and professional employees within Global R&D and Tech Center Operations * Marketing * Manufacturing Alliances * Procurement * External Vendors   * Qualifications: * * Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or other similar technical degree) * 3-5 years of experience in Food Processing, Confectionery, Pharmaceutical, or other closely related industry * Process engineering and process design experience, including process troubleshooting and optimization preferred.   * Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:*   * Knowledge and experience in process design typical for the food and pharma industry, including: * Exposure to common process unit operations and equipment used in the confectionary, food, and pharmaceutical industries; familiarity with sanitary design and construction practices; familiarity with GMP’s and Food Safety; A general knowledge of common equipment suppliers * Possess a developing understanding of the design, application, and maintenance of process piping systems, food manufacturing equipment and process automation & instrumentation * Experience in the food, pharmaceutical or other industry that is relative to Hershey manufacturing processes * Prioritize solutions and develop schedules based on an understanding of the required business objectives. * Developing troubleshooting and optimization skills * Must be able to execute projects in a timely manner. * General attributes and skills to include: * Leadership and decision-making ability. * Excellent interpersonal skills.  Strong written and oral communication skills * Must be open and comfortable with change. * Must be versed with MS Office programs.       #LI-MC1 The Hershey Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
