MHS is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician I (MT-I) to join the mechanical trades team. This position requires abilities in all mechanical trade disciplines at a basic level. The primary duty is to perform assigned preventive maintenance and minor repair work within the following areas: HVAC/R, plumbing, residential & commercial appliance repair, and minor electrical. Work performed is expected to meet all acceptable industry and manufacturers standards. Other purposes of this position include assisting other technicians to perform corrective, proactive, and preventive maintenance on all campus facility equipment & infrastructure. The incumbent is required to demonstrate a basic level of knowledge and skill through practical hands-on and written testing. All work is to be performed in accordance with all state, local and federal codes, and regulations. Work assignments will be based on the overall needs of the school. The skills of the MT-I will be evaluated through supervisor reviews, work inspections and maintenance records.

The work schedule is considered flex, and the current need is from Wednesday - Saturday 1:30 pm - 12:00 am (10-hour shift). A full-time schedule shall consist of forty (40) hours of scheduled work with a minimum of two (2) days off.

Bargaining unit position with OPS-464. In addition to a competitive starting pay: $29.68 an hour plus shift differential. Our full-time employees receive generous health and insurance benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, etc.)

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

  • Completion of a post-secondary technical training course, or high school vocational technical curriculum in a relevant field such as HVAC/R, Electrical, Plumbing & Appliance.

  • Or, two (2) years current work experience within one or several of the relevant fields in an institutional or commercial setting.

  • Basic knowledge of principles, practices & techniques used in repair and maintenance HVAC/R, plumbing, appliances, and electrical systems.

  • Ability to read, understand, and execute manufacturer’s recommendations, schematics & blueprints regarding, servicing & preventative maintenance of equipment.

  • EPA Refrigeration Certification a plus.

  • Valid PA Driver’s License in good standing required. CDL license a plus.

  • OSHA 10-Hour Training. OSHA 30-Hour Training a plus.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills required.

  • Candidates should demonstrate a high degree of integrity, as all MHS Staff are role models for MHS Students.

  • Candidates should be willing to actively engage with students.
