Sierra Nevada Corporation Security Specialist III in Herndon, Virginia

As a Security Specialist III, you will be responsible for facilitating administrative security processes such as personnel security, incoming visitor coordination, badging activities, and other general security customer service activities. You'll manage classified material and document control activities, control Communication Security materials, administer local physical security systems, and conduct inventories of classified holdings. In addition, you will assist in the development and implementation of security practices to maintain compliance with security regulations, develop and implement security awareness education and training, assist with the Security Clearance process for employees, and participate in security self-assessment initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow SNC policies, procedures and work instructions for all technical activities

  • Punctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hours

  • Initiate personnel security actions, program accesses and visit requests for SNC employees as required; support post-offer security screening process

  • Maintain facility DISS accounts and participate in facility utilization/upkeep of the enterprise security management information system (SIMS)

  • Receive and dispatch classified material and serve as the classified document control coordinator; conduct inventories of classified holdings

  • Provide security briefings and training to new employees, and participate in corporate-wide security education program

  • Participate in security program self-assessment initiatives, ensuring compliance with security regulations prescribed by multiple USG agencies

  • Serve as Program Security Representative (PSR) for one or more classified programs

  • Generate, distribute and ensure accountability of company identification badges and visitor credentials

  • Assist in the preparation of documentation and manuals outlining organizational processes, and providing the business area with relevant security policy guidance

  • Support COMSEC custodian for local facility account

  • Manage after-hours alarm response activities

  • Main Security POC for the SNC Business area Headquarters

  • Support Corporate Security CI initiatives and government reporting activities

  • Provide security assistance to other SNC locations when requested and support the Security Director with special tasks as assigned.

Must Haves:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

  • 4+ years of experience in security, military, or administrative fields

  • Higher education in a related field may substitute for up to 2 years of relevant experience

  • Strong verbal and electronic communication skills

  • General understanding of security regulations and best practices

  • Knowledge of 32 CFR 117 : National Industrial Security Program (NISPOM)

  • Current/ Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility required prior to start

Preferred:

  • Experience with access control/visit control/badge management systems and software

  • Familiarity with Intelligence Community Directives (ICD) regulations

  • DISS/NISS experience

  • SIMS Software experience

  • Security Fundamental Professional Certification (SFPC)

  • Prior Facility Security Officer experience
