Cooke Aquaculture Maintenance Vessel Captain in Hermitage, Newfoundland

Cold Ocean Salmon Inc., a division of Cooke Aquaculture Inc., a dynamic and growing east coast family company, with Platinum Member status in the Canada’s Best Managed Companies Program, is offering a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the Company’s team as a Maintenance Barge Captain based out of Newfoundland.

Cooke is a global seafood company with operations in North America, Europe, and South America. The Role

This position requires a degree of specialized expertise and skill in maintaining established standards of safety, quality and accuracy. The successful candidate will have the drive, determination and a self-disciplined approach to achieving results that meet the established criteria.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grid installation

  • Inspection/repair

  • Cage and net installation and removal

  • Net washing

  • General site maintenance

  • Harvest assistance may be required, along with other duties

    Qualifications:

  • Fishing Master IV

  • Willing to travel locally.

    • Rotating and flexible work hours are required.

    • As per company policy, a clear result of a pre-employment criminal background check is required.

    As a leader of the maintenance barge crew, you must be able to exercise the necessary authority to assure policies and procedures are followed and time frames are met. Excellent people management and communication skills are essential to build effective crew and organizational relationships.
