Summary: Monitor and control the quality of products following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications and/or sets up and operates numerical/computer numerical (CNC) control machine to cut, shape or form metal work pieces to specifications by performing the following duties:

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities * include the following, other duties may be assigned.

  • Reviews setup sheet and specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence and quality control of finished work piece.
  • Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine.
  • Set up and assembles precision components into machined cast housings using jigs, fixtures and hydraulic presses.
  • Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
  • Inspect work pieces to guarantee conformance to specifications using in process prints and gages provided.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust or dirt from work pieces.
  • Wash, pack and mark material in preparation for shipment.
  • Organize, clean and maintain work area.
  • Transport raw material, in process parts and finished goods via forklifts and hand trucks.
  • Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals, whole numbers and fractions.

  • Ability to read procedures, work instructions and process routings.
