Position Summary

Working under the supervision of the plant supervisor, the Janitor performs general caretaking of buildings and facilities, carries out cleaning, maintenance and designated security duties. The Janitor interprets operating policies and exercises independent judgment in the resolution of janitorial problems.

This position will be required to travel between the Ontario and Henrietta offices.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Clean and supply designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning etc)

· Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities

· Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects

· Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs

· Make adjustments and minor repairs

· Stock and maintain supply rooms

· Cooperate with the rest of the staff

· Follow all health and safety regulations

· Obey current Company policies and operational procedures

· Safely operate cleaning equipment and machinery

· Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies

· Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets

· Integrity and ability to work independently

· Maintain effective working relationship with all employees

· Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Position Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required

· At least one to three (3) years of demonstrated experience cleaning and performing general janitorial duties preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • LANGUAGE SKILL: Ability to read and interpret directions and instructions. Ability to speak effectively to employees.

  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:High School level arithmetic.

  • REASONING ABILITY:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

Physical Requirements/Abilities

·PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the Janitor will be often standing or walking for extended periods of time. The Janitor must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, may be frequently required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception. The Janitor may work in outside weather conditions and may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.

·WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this job, the Janitor is primarily cleaning. The Janitor may work near moving mechanical machinery or parts. The Janitor may be exposed to non-hazardous fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in certain areas of the work environment can be high and the Janitor may be required to wear personal protective equipment.
