Staff Analog IC Design Engineer

Job Description

  • Design and verify analog block-level and sub-system circuits to meet the functional and performance specifications of custom mixed-signal ASICs in order to give the company a competitive advantage in the IC market.

  • Translate customer requirements into design specifications and design solutions

  • Perform feasibility studies and analyse new analog design concepts.

  • Compare competitor solutions and propose differentiating solutions.

  • Technical conscience for 5-15MUSD R&D developments

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Specification and design of CMOS circuits meeting performance, area, power and timescale constraints

  • Take technical leadership for sub-systems and drive them from specification to production ramp.

  • Run analog/mixed signal verification simulations at block and/or chip level.

  • Collaborate with project leads to achieve system and design strategy for custom ASICs.

  • Guide layout team to ensure quality of layout of own designs.

  • Produce high quality documentation for designed circuits.

  • Work closely with DFT engineers to ensure alignment to DFT strategy and implementation.

  • Drive silicon debugging and design characterisation.

  • Support and participate in lab evaluation and characterisation for own designs.

  • Work with test and product engineers to support test development and ramp to production.

  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members and subcontractors.

  • Take a proactive approach to driving own development plan, utilising team members and internal development opportunities.

  • Participates in feasibility studies

  • Participate and have a consulting function in design reviews

  • Reviews IC design, evaluation, characterization and test results.

  • Schedule tasks and report progress to project leader, identifies possible project problems

Qualifications

  • Around 7 years deep working experience in analog design.

  • Fully competent in all common aspects of analog design, seeks technical guidance for unusual problems

  • Knowledge of modelling analog circuits and running AMS simulations.

  • Strong competence with EDA design tools and the Cadence design environment.

  • Ability to prioritise work, set goals and meet deadlines

  • Concise and precise communication and presentation skills within multi-site and multi-cultural environment.

  • Human relations skills are important to convince others (e.g. in projects) based on technical knowledge and shows assertiveness to alert superiors/colleagues

  • Develops and teaches colleagues in the own discipline

  • Applies advanced methods to complex problems. Demonstrates understanding of interfaces with other disciplines

  • Defines innovative solutions

  • Competent of being the analog lead in projects

  • Ability to propose innovative and leading edge solutions

  • Strong external focus, full awareness of competitive edge solutions

  • Competition awareness

Desirable

  • Published technical articles/ presented papers at technical conferences

  • Expertise recognition by peers

  • Experience with designing power managements circuits.
