Pay: $18.00/hr.

Location: 3900 West Loop 571 North, Henderson, Tx. 75752

Work schedule: Full-time, 3:00a - 3:00p or 7:00a -7:00p

Job responsibilities: Reports to the food service manager. Directly supervises the production supervisor, line supervisors, correctional officer staff and offenders assigned to the dining room. Responsible for the management of food services, which includes the offender dining hall and special food services in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.

Essential functions:

  1. Maintains kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition. Ensure work area is safe, clean, and sanitary.

  2. Ensure count and control of all kitchen tools. Provide an accurate count of all control items at the beginning and end of each shift.

  3. Supervise offenders in preparation of meals required.

  4. Mop, scrub, refinish and spot clean kitchen floors.

  5. Clean, sanitize, and deodorize rest rooms.

  6. Ensure counts are preformed accurately for all offenders assigned to the kitchen.

  7. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.

  8. Maintain accountability of offenders and property; Adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education/Experience requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED. One (1) year full-time, wage-earning experience in correctional, commercial, or institutional food preparation or food service management experience or eighteen (18) months of correctional custody law enforcement experience. Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements:

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by TDCJ.
