Job Description

Summary:

A Manufacturing Business Systems Analyst conducts research, monitors, maintains and optimizes business solutions.

This position requires an understanding of business processes within Materials Management and Production Planning (MMPP) to directly support users and corporate processes, along with the ability to capture gaps in functional requirements and present recommendations to both technical and business teams in addition to an excellent grasp of industry standard processes and best practices, trends and concepts along with an ability to apply these concepts into the ERP environment and business process. Strong Leadership skills, especially in the handling of Organization change are a necessity.

Important DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Supports SAP and reporting capabilities. Involves work with other ERP Systems

  • Power BI reporting

  • Develops documentation for functional and non-functional processes and procedures

  • Supports the Service Desk function to resolve user related assistance calls

  • Prepare and implement test plans for new functionality and publish communication related to the deployment of new functionality

  • Translate user requirements into user requests and program specifications. Work with programmers to assure compliance to program specifications and standard solutions

  • Develop training outlines for end-users. Support business initiatives by applying Project Management expertise.

  • Maintain security in compliance with ThermoFisher Security directives and ensure compliance to Thermo Fisher IT Policies and Guidelines.

  • Travel can range from 25%-50%

  • Gather user requirements to develop solutions and alternatives. Critically evaluate information gathered from various sources, reconcile differences and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs. Translate high-level information into details as well as summarize detailed information

  • Communicate and collaborate to analyze information needs and functional requirements. Collaborate with developers and domain experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.

  • Work with users to define concepts under direction of project leaders. Serve as the liaison between the user community and the development teams through which requirements flow. Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates

  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent knowledge of processes and standard methodologies

  • Knowledge of SAP Materials Management and Production Planning with S/4 experience. Other ERP's would be advantageous

  • 3-7 years of business experience in Materials Management / Production Planning and 2-4 years SAP experience

  • 4 year degree or clearly demonstrated ability in related area. Relevant technical certificates a plus and 4+ years of related technical work experience

  • SAP certification in the relevant functions preferred

  • Good interpersonal and excellent documentation skills are essential

  • Able to assume and complete assignments independently

  • Ability to explain and cultivate technical concepts to a broad audience

  • Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a detailed understanding of how to interpret and translate customer business needs

  • Proven project management skills and understanding of project management lifecycle

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively within a diverse group.

Language skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Ability to detail tasks undertaken and complete Helpdesk requests in a suitable level of detail for technical and non-technical staff.

Mathematical skills:

  • Ability to calculate discounts, commissions, proportions, percentages and dimensional units

  • Basic understanding of accounting concepts

Reasoning ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
