SMX is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to join a dynamic team working on creating mission-oriented applications for a forward leaning organization. This person should have 2+ years of experience in cloud development including serverless computing, infrastructure as code (IaC), and at least one programming language. Ideal candidates would also have experience with full stack development, frontend technologies (i.e., React, Angular), REST APIs, and DevOps practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy features for multiple mission-critical web applications in AWS.

  • Implement and maintain DevSecOps practices by automating build, test, and deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools.

  • Apply best practices for cloud security, including managing identities and access, protecting data in transit and at rest, and understanding the shared responsibility model.

  • Contribute to software documentation in support of Authorization to Operate (ATO).

  • Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and promote knowledge sharing.

  • Continuously learn about new cloud services, features, and architectural patterns to improve existing applications or create new and innovative solutions.

  • Solve complex problems while clearly communicating with customers, management, and other key stakeholders in both technical and high-level terms.

  • Collaborate with the team to translate customer requirements and needs into proven design patterns.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Clearance requirement: Top Secret/SCI eligible

  • 2+ years of cloud development experience (AWS, Azure, or Google) including serverless concepts and REST APIs.

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (JavaScript, Python, Java, C#, etc.).

  • Knowledgeable of cloud DevOps tooling (CI/CD pipelines, build tools, IaC), concepts, and approaches.

  • Proven experience with Git workflows and best practices throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Proven ability to document, promote, and present your work to other teams and to customers.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Associate or Professional AWS and/or equivalent cloud certification(s).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Experience working on agile development teams and developing cloud solutions to meet customer requirements.

  • Understanding of security practices in cloud environments, including identity and access management, network security, and data protection.
