Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

Key Responsibilities:

Support daily production:

• Interact and support daily production; Co-responsible for Forming process performance.

• For daily process issues, investigating and analyzing, leading troubleshooting, developing solutions, and implementing corrective actions.

• For repeated difficult issues, assist in process analysis to improve product or process.

• Assists in process control and discipline (appropriate data collection, monitoring, etc.).

• Providing training/certification of operators in process control and operation.

• Maintain product run strategy, SOS(Standard Operating Setpoints) and SOP(Standard Operating Procedure) for production lines.

Die management:

• Interpret business needs & incorporate them into die business needs (i.e. die power model, 24 month rolling forecast, etc.). Integrate the die details with management needs to form a well-articulated & executable plan.

• Integrate with the Division engineering/IDM/CDSC etc. to form common technology approach & priority.

• Manage die & hardware inventory and reception in order to ensure enough and appropriate dies are ready for production.

• Investigating and possibly repairing die & hardware defects; providing preventative actions.

New line set up:

• Interact and support new plant project team for process debug and production set up.

• Assist Forming engineer and project team on the topics of dies, hardware, extrusion, handling.

• Work with upstream and downstream process: batching, drying, and cutting.

Continuous Improvement:

• Train and communicate with operators of process or equipment changes.

• Lead experimentations and projects to ensure effective implementation – achieving objectives, completed on time and within budget.

Plant-wide principles:

• Implementing and enforcing procedures for maintaining a safe work environment.

Project involved with:

• CHCL New Product process debug and production set up

• Assist in Continuous Improvement Projects including repeated problem solving and prevention, process optimization, etc.

• See annual Department Objectives.

Required Education: Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent technical degree.

Desired Education: Master of Science (Engineering or equivalent).

Required Years and Area of Experience:

• 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing

• 2 years' minimum Engineering supervision & leadership experience.

Required Skills:

• Successful technical project management, with evidence of progressive increase in responsibilities.

• Has excelled in one or more prior applicable roles: Manufacturing, Innovation, or Engineering leadership.

• Modest level of technical understanding within the division; alternatively, very strong general technology skills.

• Demonstrated ability to coach and develop people.

• Demonstrated ability to use engineering fundamentals to solve production problems.

Desired Skills:

• Experience in Extrusion, die manufacturing, etc.

• Breadth of experiences in prior roles: manufacturing, innovation, engineering, nontechnical assignments.

• Experience with deeply technical content

• Exposure to budget preparation & 5-Year planning processes

• Effectively dealing with difficult situations (performance issues, unsuccessful projects, etc.)
