MRA - The Management Association Senior Accountant in Heath, Ohio

Senior Accountant -- Gummer Wholesale, Inc. Gummer Wholesale, a family-owned company servicing the distribution needs of the convenience store industry, has an immediate opening for a Senior Accountant to work out of the Heath, OH facility. As an integral member of the Accounting Department, the Senior Accountant is the primary general ledger accountant and acts as primary back up of both the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. The ideal candidate will have experience with all aspects of the accounting cycle including account reconciliation and analyzing general ledger account activity. The ability to quickly identify and implement process improvements is essential for success in this fast paced and high-volume environment. A strong working knowledge of Excel is essential. DUTIES: Review and report key metrics to Senior Management daily. Prepare and post general journal entries. Initiate both receivable and payable electronic payments through bank portal. Oversee periodic physical inventory process. Analyze and reconcile GL accounts on a monthly basis. Assist with management of credit and collection process. Review daily bank activity to identify and communicate returned deposits and other unusual receipts or payments. Act as primary backup to AP and AR functions. Provide support to customers and other departments in a timely manner. Assist with financial close activities. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field with a minimum of three years' experience in an accounting role. Working knowledge of GAAP and ability to proactively apply knowledge to the business. Reconciliation and analysis of financial activity including cash accounts, inventory, and accrual balances. Experience with QuickBooks and Crystal Reporting helpful. Excel, online banking, and data entry/10 key proficiency required. Other: Must be able to clearly communicate with customers, vendors, and other departments. Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
