Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prints the days expected deliveries and ensures a hard copy of all purchase orders for the day are on hand

  • Verifies delivered quantity with purchase order ensuring correct quantity received.

  • Contacts Purchasing department of any discrepancies on purchase orders

  • Notifies QA and supervisor if there are any issues with the quality of raw materials, temperature specifications, packing date limitations, or any mishandlings.

  • Daily inspections of Forklifts / Pallet Jacks.

  • Maintains receiving log, recording in system all quantities of all raw materials received, vendors, description, establishment number, temperature at time of receiving, condition of trailer, set temperature of trailer, and verifies driver’s ID

  • Properly stages all received raw materials and supplies to appropriate storage locations

  • Ensures all product received meet the quality standards set forth by Columbus

  • Responsible for transferring product from wood pallets to plastic and inserting dividers for all frozen raw materials

  • Supplies all slicing lines with daily production product and/or materials according to production schedule

  • Responsible for data entered Adage and Whistle

  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area

  • Performs required stretches and exercises

  • Wear all appropriate PPE. Work safely and use equipment only when trained.

  • Attend all required meetings

  • Participate in cycle counts and physical inventories

  • Ensures & maintains record of all departmental activity, i.e., Shipping records, HACCP verification, correct transfers to applicable locations i.e., Hayward

  • Loading and cleaning of the thaw room

  • Report anything unusual, including accidents, breakage or malfunction of machineries and equipment to your line coordinator / supervisor.

  • Supports, and works well with other departments as needed.

  • May be assigned or required to perform other duties, responsibilities and functions assigned by the production line coordinator and/or supervisor and/or production management.

Physical Demands

The essential functions of the job and working conditions requires the individual to, walk, stand, stoop, bend, reach, grasp, and lift up to 70 lbs.,

The job requires the individual to work in a light to moderate noise environment, and/or up to a high level of noise environment that requires mandated personal protective equipment. Working environment may include but is not limited to the donning, wearing, and usage of hairnets, smocks, coats, gloves, boots, glasses, hearing protection and hard hats.

The position may be exposed to extreme climate (e.g., hot, dry, cold, and wet) conditions; may potentially be exposed to allergens/mold.

Job-related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. FIFO knowledge

  2. Ability to operate Forklift and Pallet Jack

  3. Ability to work with spices, allergens, cleaning chemicals and mold

  4. Strong knowledge of General Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and BRC standards

  5. Drives continuous improvement in both production process and occupational safety

  6. Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment, maintaining a commitment to results.

  7. Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours a day regardless of the department assignment and overtime when needed, including weekends and holidays.

• Line Coordinator backup: Basic English reading, writing and comprehension skills
