Brief Position Overview

The agricultural technology educator will develop and deliver coursework leading to an Associate of Applied Science in Agriculture Technology, Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Operations Technology as well as supporting coursework for agriculture related minors. The position will also be responsible for advising the Professional Agricultural Students ( PAS ) Club and be active in the community as an ambassador for MSUN and agriculture.

Position Details

General Statement

The agricultural technology educator will develop and deliver coursework leading to an Associate of Applied Science in Agriculture Technology, Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Operations Technology as well as supporting coursework for agriculture related minors. The position will also be responsible for advising the Professional Agricultural Students ( PAS ) Club and be active in the community as an ambassador for MSUN and agriculture.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position will require teaching approximately 24 college level semester credits each academic year. Course lecture and lab topic areas will be related to rangeland management, pest management, agriculture and machinery technologies & management, GPS - GIS and precision agriculture, agricultural business management, and other agriculturally related subjects. Academic and career advising of students will be a responsibility associated with this position. In addition, the hire will be involved in curriculum development, program growth, program assessment and working with the program’s industry advisory board.

Academic responsibilities will also include serving on campus committees, active involvement in campus activities and serving as an ambassador and collegiate member of the College of Technical Sciences.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or a closely related field

  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication

  • Demonstrated strength in interpersonal skills and potential for developing an effective teaching portfolio

  • Demonstrated passion for agriculture and agricultural education

  • Demonstrated experience with agricultural software, MS Office Suite

    Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Master’s degree or a terminal degree in an appropriate field

  • Background and work experiences in farm and ranch production and/or agricultural industry

  • Experience and willingness to embrace emerging agricultural technologies

  • Demonstrated effective secondary/post-secondary agricutlural teaching experience

  • A degree in Agriculture Education preferred
