POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Red Peak Technical Services, LLC a subsidiary of Alutiiq, LLC has a great opportunity for an entry level Documentation Specialist (Technical Manual Team Member) to be a part of the technical manual update teams in the Havelock NC office. The Documentation Specialist will incorporate data into new or existing technical publications using various software programs and specifications.

  • Incorporating source data into new or existing technical publications using various software programs; specifically MS Word and MIL-STD-3001 at this time.
  • Digitizing data from paper format
  • Formatting data to meet various military specifications
  • Proofing the data to ensure all information was incorporated accurately
  • Scanning data for historical archiving
  • Preparing the change package and/or revision for quality assurance review
  • Reading and interpreting military and commercial specifications and be able to apply them to the technical manuals.

Payrate:$17.20 Hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be an U.S. citizen.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of two years experience and have a proficient working knowledge of data entry and word processing (using MS Word or comparable word processing software), proofing skills with attention to detail, the ability to follow oral and written directions and processes, and be willing to learn additional software (graphics software, XML authoring, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must be able to work in a high-paced environment.
  • MS Word formatting experience is required.
  • Familiarity with military technical publications is a plus.
  • Experience in and proficient using the MIL-STD-81927 and MIL-STD-3001 specification is preferred.
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week on a consistent basis.
