Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's Hauppauge, NY office is looking for a Senior Transportation Design Engineer to join our growing Transportation practice. VHB's Transportation group has earned a reputation as one of the preeminent traffic engineering and transportation planning teams in Suburban New York. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex transportation projects for major governmental, institutional, and real estate clients and play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.

Responsibilities

    Produce and deliver roadway/highway design projects from inception through the construction administration phase
  • Pre-design project planning and technical task management
  • Design of highways, roadways, parking garages, bicycle transportation and pedestrian paths, including development of geometric layout, grading and drainage, working with utilities, design and permitting
  • Manage the development of technical design and specification documents
  • Assist with strategy for expansion of transportation services in Long Island and Westchester
  • Monitor project financial performance
  • Attend and lead meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss traffic analysis and transportation design/permitting issues
  • Execute scope associated with transportation planning, operations and/or design for projects as necessary
  • Participate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partners
  • Develop new project opportunities; prepare and manage proposal submissions

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Master's degree preferred
  • 8-11+ years of transportation/highway design engineering experience, with at least 5 years of experience working in the NY market, required
  • NY Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Experience working in Long Island preferred

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Hauppauge, NY is $106,000-140,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
