ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Project Manager/Civil Engineering Lead - Land Development | Hybrid

VHB's growing Hauppauge, NY office is seeking a Senior Project Manager/Civil Engineering Lead to join our site/civil land development team. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex projects for major institutional, industrial, and real estate clients and play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.

Responsibilities

    Lead and develop site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of projects in the Institutional, Industrial, Real Estate and Energy Market
  • Help build and lead a multi-dimensional team of land development engineering professionals
  • Provide technical and career guidance as a mentor to staff
  • Manage small, medium, and large projects
  • Develop new project opportunities and manage proposal submissions
  • Support preparation of land development design and permitting documents
  • Responsible for project financial performance and client relations
  • Prepare and review drawings and specifications documenting the systems designed
  • Lead and attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues
  • Supervise design team activities during Construction Administration

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient in site layout, grading, utility design and stormwater management
  • Experience with real estate projects, institutional and energy projects a plus
  • Experience with GIS Systems, MicroStation, AutoCAD and Civil3D preferred
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills
  • Ability to think critically and multitask
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills
  • Excels working in a team environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related field required
  • Master's degree a plus (may substitute for 1 year of experience)
  • 11-15 years of site/civil design engineering experience required
  • 15+ years' experience preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required
  • Understanding of the Long Island marketplace a plus

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Hauppauge, NY is $128,000-190,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
