Microchip Technology Intern - Software Engineer in Hauppauge, New York

Job Description:

The SCG-FW division of Microchip Technology that design & develop ECs for the major computer manufacturers is looking for a entry level Engineer position to be located in our Hauppauge office.

Your major responsibilities include understanding the specification. Getting hands on existing products for the flow and design of FW Bootloader. Unit test FW features added for the new products as per specification.

You will be Involved in the development of Test EC APP firmware (FW), software utilities, and the design and debug of the application in test hardware such as FPGA and\or evaluation boards for the Bootloader functional checks.

You will be developing the FW & SW tests suits for the embedded processor (ARM) as well as the functional blocks (ex. SPI, UART, SMB, crypto blocks, ESPI, etc.) that are featured on the chip.

As a part of product development, you will be involved in resolving issues in the design, development and supporting internal groups such as Validation , Test and QA to get the part production worthy.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Responsibilities & Duties: Firmware architecture define & outline, develop the basic architecture of the firmware as per specification. Develops coding for new products, and maintains and modify code for existing products using embedded C\C++ programming, in accordance with software specifications.
Maintain software design documentation Write test reports for the newly added feature set Develop the base features needed for the team to develop test firmware for unit testing the feature addition Set and codify firmware guideline & best practice Work with internal groups to get the part production worthy Works with project team members to identify and mitigate development risks and produce development plans Conduct Software requirements analysis, software risk analysis, and

software performance analysis

Qualifications & Skills Preferably experience in: o Experience in embedded programming on microcontroller - C \ C++
o Experience with common microcontroller and/or embedded processing platforms such as ARM o Experience in common debugging tools to troubleshoot embedded code and implement corrections. o Integrated Development Environment(IDE) Software Programs o Firmware development experience using on Microchip PIC Microcontrollers using MPLab IDEs is a plus o Understanding of higher-level languages, object-oriented methodologies, user-interface implementation for Hardware and software debug o Demonstrated skill in independently using electronics lab equipment to develop/troubleshoot Proficient on o ARM processor architecture & features o Keil and MPLAB tools o Python and\or Perl scripting language is a plus o Hardware integration for interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, USB, etc.: o Security - crypto algorithms AES, HASH, ECC o Hands on FPGA or any development paltform o Strong team player, proactive and motivated Travel Time:
