Position Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist will support the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring efficiency and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation; leave of absence; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, engagement and morale; and training and development.

  • Assist with recruitment efforts, including job postings, resume screening, and coordinating interviews.

  • Onboard new employees by conducting orientations and facilitating the completion of required paperwork.

  • Coordinate training and development initiatives to support employee growth.

  • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.

  • Support the development, implementation and / or update of company policies.

  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

  • Facilitate and/or participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

  • Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

  • Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.

  • Take appropriate disciplinary action against employees who violate rules and regulations and addressing employee grievances.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by senior management.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; equivalent work experience in Human Resources may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum 5 years Human Resources experience, preferably in a generalist capacity.

  • SHRM-CP a plus.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; negotiation, and conflict resolution skills; organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and multitask.

  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

Physical Demands:

  • Required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, computer controls.

  • May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., stand, bend, kneel, crouch, sit, talk, hear, and walk.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, ability to focus.

Work Environment:

  • Required to be present in the office to collaborate with executive management, department directors, peers, and supervisors on an as needed basis.

  • Regular, ongoing travel throughout geographic areas on a continual basis as normal scope of role. Requires HR oversight of and movement between multiple company facilities within Hauppauge.

  • Employee travel/work hours/schedule/location and/or shift are subject to change based on business needs and Management discretion.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.

Personal Protective Equipment or Attire Required for Position:

As needed.

Pay Range:

$70,000 - $80,000 per year
