Description

OBJECTIVES:

  • Increase operational effectiveness of the transportation function as measured by Safety, Quality, Delivery, Costs and Inventory (SQDCI)
  • Enforce safety & general housekeeping; compliant equipment operation & DOT practices
  • Data accuracy and integrity for delivery schedules, third party carrier contracts/rates and cost analysis
  • Coordinate with suppliers, warehouse, retail stores, in-house CDL drivers and third-party carriers to schedule deliveries
  • Continuously seek route optimization for shipments across the full order cycle
  • Analyze financial impact of logistics changes, routing and shipping options
  • Reduce operating costs by improving process flow, eliminating duplicate steps and seeking employee input for better job performance
  • Establish & continuously communicate clear standard operating procedures for all processes within the logistics function
  • Continuously train and develop team members on how to successfully perform their job, hit performance goals, and work safely
  • Provide team members and drivers clear instructions to meet delivery schedules requiring special handling
  • Implement standard work in communications to 1) clarify accountabilities and expectations for team members and 2) establish consistent on-going use of leader check-ins with associates
  • Operate with internal customer needs (voice of the customer) in mind; shipments received to facilitate easy unloading; shipments delivered to facilitate retail store receipt and staging

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Keep organized records of vehicles, schedules and completed orders
  • Report maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment
  • Organize training sessions for employees (Ex. Proper use of machines and handling merchandise)
  • Coordinates training of new employees, current employees and labor management
  • Research and suggest cost-effective shipping methods
  • Develops daily checklists and capture performance data
  • Collaborate with other warehouse departments and other managers to optimize processes
  • Ensure quality of shipments before they are sent out
  • Stay up-to-date with safety regulations
  • Responsible for maintaining company Health and Safety including OSHA standards, and promotes Safety standards
  • Executes SOPs and hold your team accountable, including progressive discipline when necessary
  • Manages employee time and attendance, and updates hours appropriately
  • Completes and revises daily end of shift reports
  • Provides feedback to develop employees and future leaders
  • Updates and communicates labor needs regularly
  • Ensure compliance to legal regulations and company policies
  • Report to warehouse management on activities and issues

Requirements

*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: *

  • Must have ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to squat, kneel and balance
  • Must have ability to stand, or sit, for extended periods (entire shift) and t move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures.
  • Ability to bend and twist frequently

*WORKING CONDITIONS: *

  • Routinely work near moving mechanical parts such as vehicles, forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies or similar mechanical devices
  • Moderate to loud noise levels

$50,000-55,000 per year
