Material Planner, Kohler Home Energy

Opportunity

Responsible for the scheduling of sourced component part deliveries and internally machined/assembled production part activities of assigned materials to achieve the highest service levels to the end customer with the lowest inventory cost. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to achieve continuous improvements in delivery.

Good understanding of ERP systems, MRP and Kanban. Good understanding of basic system set points and their control on planning. Good understanding of component, machining and assembly processes and the planning of them.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Place and maintain orders for on-time delivery for materials under MRP planning. Take action to expedite and de-expedite parts and raw materials as well as make adjustment actions based on any capacity restrictions or load constraints. Advise status of part flow to due dates or of delays.

  • Build trust by working in partnership with manufacturing, suppliers, and buyers to reduce lead times and minimum order quantities.

  • Follow-up as required with all teams to expedite flow of materials and documents to meet production schedule and customer expectation.

  • Focus on the end customer by improving business and supply chain processes.

  • Drive continuous improvements for smaller more frequent deliveries, just in time.

  • Maintain and control SAP master data to assure individual component data integrity.

  • Investigate and resolve blocked invoices due to quantity related issues.

  • Proactively work with stockroom associates to address suspected inventory accuracy issues.

  • Perform other related assignments as directed.

  • Create return purchase orders as necessary for claim returns by obtaining RMA’s, and preparing return shipment documents.

  • Perform other related assignments as directed.

  • Ensures adherence to applicable product compliance requirements including but not limited to the Clean Air Act, California Code of Regulations and California Health and Safety Code.

Skills/Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in materials planning and scheduling in a manufacturing or purchasing environment.

  • Experience in inventory management, ERP (SAP Preferred) /MRP and Kanban systems

  • Demonstrated continuous improvement, mathematical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft products

  • Individual must possess strong characteristics in initiative, attitude, assertiveness and sense of urgency

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Associate’s Degree in Business/Operations Management or related field preferred

The salary range for this position is $59,250 - $74,050. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
