JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of CNC grinders, manual centerless grinders, and surface grinders, maintaining a clean and organized work environment. As a CNC Grinding Setup Operator, the incumbent acts as a pivotal communication link between employees and management/leads, promptly addressing and resolving operational issues or queries as they arise during their shift. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Set up and operate CNC grinders, manual centerless grinders, and surface grinders in a manner that ensures safety and productivity. Guarantee that parts produced meet or exceed the quality standards established. Verify all dimensions and material types to ensure compliance with specifications detailed in work orders. Meet productivity standards as determined by supervisors and engineering methods, working in close collaboration with programmers to enhance cycle times and refine program efficiency. Use SAP and MII software to monitor the flow of production orders within the department effectively. Strategically assign operators to machinery, optimizing efficiency by assessing the capability of personnel to operate multiple machines based on cycle times. Efficiently manage consumable tools, ensuring leadership is promptly informed of any requirements for tool replacement or machine repair. As a CNC Grinding Setup Operator, bear responsibility for the productivity and performance of CNC and manual grinding operations. Ensure the preparedness of appropriate tooling and gauging for scheduled jobs, necessitating close interaction with programming and production planning departments. Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, including the compulsory use of safety glasses, safety shoes, ear protection (where necessary), and machine guards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities) In-depth knowledge of CNC grinding, manual centerless grinding, and surface grinding operations. Proficient communication skills for professional interactions with managers, supervisors, and peers. Skilled in the use of micrometer/vernier measuring instruments. Ability to read and interpret product blueprints and specifications accurately. Perform first piece and in-process inspections to ensure product quality consistency. PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS 3-5 years of experience in CNC and manual grinding operations. A strong mechanical background is highly preferred. Knowledge of reading and understanding G-Code programming. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The role is based in a manufacturing setting, requiring the correct use of personal protective equipment and the capability to move, install/remove, adjust, position, measure, and handle materials weighing up to 70 pounds.
