Allied Tube and Conduit Corporation seeks a Product Design Engineer in Harvey, IL.

POSITION DUTIES:The Product Design Engineer will be generally responsible for the overall product vitality of the Mechanical SBU including customer applications, new product development and stage gate management The essential job duties of the Product Design Engineer are as follows: working closely with end users on custom application specific design specifications: working with new product development and commercialization teams to convert meaningful product specifications to mainstream new product designs; providing product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests; actively participating in overall leadership of the business as a key staff member of the strategic business unit; identifying adjacent vertical market opportunities for penetration through core product modification or new product development; traveling into field soliciting voice of customer feedback in pursuit of new product development opportunities; partnering with the sales team in pursuit of market share gains through creative design solutions; and consistently report VOC back to the BU product management teams to help drive Atkore Innovation Initiatives. This position requires only little domestic and international travel. Position may allow working from home within commuting distance of worksite location.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Requires a Bachelor\'s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field plus 3 years of experience as a Product Design Engineer, Product Development Engineer or related. Must possess 3 years of experience with: leading multiple projects from concept to production that meet performance and safety standards; working collaboratively with cross-functional teams including product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance; overseeing the prototyping process to validate design concepts and performance; participating in design reviews and cross-functional meetings to continuously improve product designs and processes; product development and design; project management; Bills of material (BOM) management; root cause analysis; dynamic and physical testing; conducting Finite Element Analysis (FEA); validating design modifications through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations; implementing process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency while maintaining quality and safety; Computer Aided Engineering (CAE); statistical analysis; and Ls Dyna. Experience may be gained concurrently. This position requires only little domestic and international travel. Position may allow working from home within commuting distance of worksite location.
