Production Technician

Company Overview

Kelly Services is seeking a dedicated and skilled Production Technician I - Set Up Tech to join our team. This role is essential for ensuring the proper, timely, and safe exchange of molds in injection molding machines.

Job Description

Set Up Tech is responsible for performing diversified duties related to exchanging molds in injection molding machines. This includes reading work orders, installing the proper molds, and maintaining cleanliness and safety.

Monday-Friday 11:30am-8pm

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow proper procedures for mold installations, including molds with Scientific Molding (SM) process.

  • Maintain cleanliness of mold’s parting line, cavity/core inserts, and part chute or conveyor belt after installation.

  • Clean and protect mold’s parting line, cavity, and core components; lubricate leader pins, bushings, and other moving parts before mold removal.

  • Clean and protect against rust using light oil on mold base and machine platens as needed.

  • Perform mold insert changeovers when necessary.

  • Clean up after mold installations and return removed molds to their proper location if necessary.

  • Communicate any mold/machine issues or damage before installing/removing to the assistant supervisor, supervisor, or engineering.

  • Care for supplied tools and report any missing or broken tools.

Requirements

  • Must work safely and take all necessary safety precautions.

  • Must improve abilities according to the skilled labor training matrix.

  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.

  • Must understand and demonstrate all safety requirements for using and handling molds, injection machines, and equipment.

  • Prior experience with injection machine processes preferred.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Must have a working knowledge of an injection molding manufacturing floor, mold storage, and handling with a minimum of 1 year of experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. For weights over 50 pounds, use of the buddy system or lifting aids is necessary.
