Project Engineer

Under the direction of the Director - Engineering, the Project Engineer is responsible for managing projects from the design stage, all the way through shipping. Including tooling, fixtures, gauging, production routings, schedules, dimensional approval, costs, profitability, and customer contact / correspondence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded from time to time to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.

· Comply with all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures and housekeeping standards.

· Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods.

· Participate in foundry related process improvement projects.

· Investigate and correct quality related issues.

· Train team members on the technical aspects of producing quality ferrous/stainless investment castings.

· Make recommendations to management to resolve casting issues including alloy selection, design improvements, and post-cast process steps.

· Assist manufacturing in standard practice improvements.

· Work on scrap problems.

· Be knowledgeable of continuous flow manufacturing principles, foundry, manufacturing and machining processes.

· Be knowledgeable of 3D solid modeling (SolidCast), NX (UniGraphics) or ProE .

· Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods.

· Determines the processes, identifies the materials and supplies to be used, and designs and builds appropriate fixtures necessary for efficient and cost effective manufacturing.

· Creates new part numbers based on customer specifications and established standards.

· Establishes customer and internal engineering changes (ECNs), processes and incorporates the changes, and insures changes become effective.

· Establishes the processes and routings to handle discrepant material, returned products (RMAs), and internal jobs to be reworked.

· Confers with customers and engineering staff concerning product design and tooling to insure efficient production methods.

· Supervisory Responsibilities - None.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical or Materials Engineering or related field from a four-year college or university and 2 to 5 years of project engineering experience.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Must be able to effectively communicate with other employees to share information, solves problems, and instructs or train lesser skilled employees. Must have the ability to read and interpret complex documents such as blueprints, shop orders, work plans, and short correspondence. Must be able to write standard reports and documentation.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Requires the ability to operate various equipment to include various precision measuring devices and lifting devices. Requires a broad knowledge of tooling, material characteristics, and general manufacturing and machining practices. Should be knowledgeable and/or familiar with applicable ISO/TS and quality system requirements and policies.

Pay Details: $85,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year
