Staff Accountant (Permanent Opportunity)

Hartford County / HYBRID - 3 days Remote!

The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in managing the day-to-day accounting operations of this organization. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, general ledger and bank reconciliations, journal entries, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for supporting the mission of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, grant accounting, and expenses.

  • Prepare and process journal entries.

  • Reconcile bank statements and other accounts.

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Support the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and financial analysis.

  • Generate reports for management, funders, and regulatory bodies.

  • Assist with internal and external audits.

  • Assist in preparing the IRS Form 990 schedules

  • Work closely with other members of the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial operations.

  • Communicate effectively with program staff, management, and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or related field

  • 2+ years of relevant accounting experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
