If you are not sure you can have a conversation with your manager. The Hartford is seeking a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt to drive Process Mining and other strategic improvement opportunities. This role is in The Hartford’s Enterprise Process Improvement (EPI) Team. EPI is The Hartford’s internal consulting team focused on continuous improvement. The Black Belt role is critical to our goal of establishing process mining expertise within the organization.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the analysis, design & improvement of critical business processes and value streams using Six Sigma, Lean, Design Thinking, and other recognized continuous improvement approaches

  • Leverage innovative process discovery tools and (data-driven) process mining/modeling algorithms and approaches. Develop process models, data, and visualizations to highlight process opportunities and drive high levels of urgency with business partners. Create process models (including digital twins) to drive simulations and hypothesis testing

  • Analyze process using both visual and analytical approaches. Help business partners identify and define the optimal process path and to interpret the process map being created through process analytics

  • Independently scope, plan, facilitate and execute improvement workshops (e.g., kaizen event)

  • Facilitate the creation of standard, disciplined process documentation and the process management controls to sustain, adapt, and continuously improve

  • Partner with data science and performance analytics partners to develop data models and metrics to deeply analyze process performance and create appropriate monitoring metrics and controls

  • Present findings, conclusions, and recommendations to business leaders and project sponsors supported by high-quality project deliverables and artifacts

  • Leverage change management techniques to drive organizational commitment and buy in to recommendations

  • Deliver continuous improvement training (Green Belt/Yellow Belt) and mentor Yellow Belts, Green Belts, and other business leaders. Help leaders align continuous improvement strategy to business objectives and goals

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years organizational performance improvement experience

  • Minimum of 2 plus years of project execution and/or consulting experience

  • Ability to manage simultaneous project assignments with potentially conflicting priorities and deadlines

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff across the System

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Sound decision-making skills

  • Proven desk management skills

  • Strong diplomacy and collaboration skills

  • Strong personal agility. Able to surmount challenges while maintaining positive mindset

  • Strong quantitative analysis and data manipulation skills

  • Technical experience in Oracle, PL/SQL, Snowflake, Python, R, and/or similar tools

  • Familiarity with data warehouse solutions

  • Experience using process mining tools (eg. SkanAI, Celonis, or similar tools) preferred

  • Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent industry training and experience preferred

    Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship, now and in the future.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$105,120 - $157,680
