JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, repair and maintain property structures, minor plumbing repair, and minor electrical work in addition to performing grounds maintenance. They will also support The Village by providing courier and office support services and assistance with setting up agency events. They will work closely with other members of their team and will interact with staff at The Village to address their maintenance needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs grounds checks daily, proactively deal with issues and safety concerns.
  2. Conducts monthly and other periodic inspections of all facilities and vehicles.
  3. Monitors all buildings for fire/safety code compliance.
  4. Spot checks for ice/snow removal during winter months in parking lots and sidewalks.
  5. Sets up/breaks down rooms as required for meetings.
  6. Moves and assembles furniture.
  7. Coordinates with vendors for agency inspections.
  8. Escorts and directs visiting contractors and vendors.
  9. Must be available for on-call coverage after hours and weekends on rotation.
  10. Checks electronic/phone messages daily for repair requests.
  11. Performs specially designated grounds projects.
  12. Ensures that the cleaning company has supplies needed on a weekly basis.
  13. Interacts daily with situations normal to residential program settings.
  14. Provides courier services including sorting, pick-up and delivery of agency mail.
  15. Shuttles vehicles for inspection and service.
Experience and Skills

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

  • Must have valid CT drivers license, safe driving record and access to personal transportation.
  • Two years experience in an affiliated construction trade or property maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a vigorously paced setting as a team member.
  • Must be proactive, enthusiastic, patient, flexible, and able to handle crisis situations in a calm manner.
  • Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations, and ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
