The Assistant Vice President IT is responsible for leadership and execution of the Application Modernization work track of The Hartford’s overall Cloud Transformation Program. The candidate will report directly to the SVP, Cloud Transformation, and work closely with the Technology, Data, Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture, Leadership Team, peers across the Lines of Businesses, and the program’s Transformation office to deliver modernized applications to the AWS cloud.

The Application Modernization lead will provide strategic direction over the application modernization roadmap and oversee the delivery End to End. The App Mod Lead will partner closely across multiple LOBs to drive the goals and objectives of the application modernization agenda. Collaborate with CIOs, SLT members and key stakeholders to ensure proper orchestration, prioritization, and execution of the applications migrations to cloud. Provide executive oversight, closely manages the E2E App Mod plan including major milestones, overall status, mitigates risk and resolves issues, and assures value delivery in close partnership with the LOB matrixed teams. Key Responsibilities

  • Strong technical leadership and program execution at scale experience to lead a multi-year $140M program to migrate applications to the AWS cloud platform.

  • Accountable for strong execution rigor and technical oversight to achieve our overall vision. Collaborate with senior leadership to gain alignment of the program to meet our business and technology goals.

  • Work across a complex network of stakeholders, technology teams, and vendors to ensure program is delivered on time, within budget and meets strategic and business goals.

  • Leads program reviews with leadership for individual projects and workstreams, executing changes and reprioritization, as needed, to meet business needs.

  • Manage sub-project dependencies and program constructs leveraging agile methodology to develop a comprehensive schedule while monitoring future work to proactively adjust for unforeseen scheduling challenges.

  • Proactive risk identification and mitigation of risks and issues within projects.

  • Identify required granularity to satisfy visibility and control needs while articulating complex schedules and inter-dependencies clearly for stakeholders.

  • Manage executive communication on the progress of the work across Steering Committee, SLT updates, etc.

  • Oversight of $140M budget, and allocations to Lines of Businesses

    Education

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field preferred.

    Tools Knowledge & Certifications

  • Strong Execution experience in Agile at Scale

  • Strong technical execution background managing large technology delivery.

  • Knowledge of Rally, clarity, Microsoft tools, etc.

    Work Experience

  • 5+ Years proven experience in leading major cloud migration projects to AWS.

  • 10+ years combined IT experience in technology delivery and execution.

  • Experience managing large, complex projects of $50M+ to drive business outcomes.

  • Experience in Scaled Agile delivery.

  • Proven track record leading executives and influencing others towards a common goal.

  • Strong communication skills, including ability to be articulate and concise both written and verbal to C-Suite and peers.

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis, problem solving, and indirect influence.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$180,000 - $270,000
