Description: Seneca Foods is one of North America's leading providers of packaged fruits and vegetables with facilities located throughout the United States. Seneca also provides vegetable products to other companies under various co-pack arrangements.

 

Position Summary Inspect and sort fruit or products for defects and deviations from specifications. Weigh filled cases and/or pails on a scale. Poke stems into retail maraschino cherry containers. Manually attach lids and/or shrouds to foodservice containers. Assemble packing materials (boxes) for finished goods.

Essential Functions Discard or reject product not meeting specifications Inspect, weigh, or measure materials and products for conformance to specifications Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems and assist in identifying and correcting these problems Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products and recommend necessary corrective actions Grade and sort products according to sizes, weights, colors, or other specifications Inspect glass at light box inspection station Weigh product containers to verify packaging weights and ingredient quantities Push stems down with two fingers into jar before syrup filling Place tamper resistant shrouds onto individual containers prior to heat shrink Attach plastic lids to container Form, tape, and line cases by hand for finished product packaging Other tasks as assigned

Competencies & Certifications Required Internal GMP/HACCP/SQF Training Trained and knowledgeable in the use of PPE (personal protective equipment) Must pass respiratory fitness test

Physical Demands of Job The employee must be able to perform the physical demands listed below to perform this specific job functions:

Frequent standing and walking Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, and twisting Occasional lifting and/or pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds Ability to sort or pack on a moving conveyor belt Ability to grasp, manipulate, and feel small items with hands
