DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Transportation Planning Specialist Trainee, your role will involve contributing to the creation and upkeep of transportation plans and programs at the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and district-wide level. This includes assisting in the development of project schedules, funding plans, and budgets, as well as preparing reports and analyzing transportation data. Additionally, you will be involved in highway reviews and transportation studies. You will also be responsible for program analysis and supporting the management of transportation planning systems and databases. While you will work independently within program guidelines, you will receive general instructions from a supervisor who will review your work for adherence to technical standards, policies, and desired outcomes.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, at the discretion of the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, planning, computer science, or geography; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
