Reference #: 4373644 THE POSITION Are you an undergraduate or graduate-level student interested in assisting with projects to engage constituency groups and handle constituent calls and correspondence? Would you like to gain hands-on experience working within Pennsylvania's Office of the Governor? If so, consider applying to the Office of Public Affairs and Marketing! We are looking for an intern for the upcoming 2024 Summer session. This internship is expected to run late May 2024 through August 2024. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Public Affairs Intern, you will be responsible for performing entry-level work as you gain experience to become proficient in public affairs. Effective communication is a key aspect of this position as you will have the opportunity to: Assist with managing incoming phone calls and correspondence Respond via phone and in writing to a variety of correspondence requests including citations, proclamations, policy letters, communications with federal, state, and local officials, and constituent inquiries Gather information through research and coordination with staff Coordinate with staff on messaging and policy goals Act as a liaison to state agencies to find solutions to constituent inquiries Collaborate with a team on mail operations, including US mail and online submissions

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week. Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. You will be required to report to the Harrisburg Office in-person five days a week.

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements: Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program. Graduates from Spring of 2024 may also be considered for this program. Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher). Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university. Additional Requirements: You must have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, execute high-volume projects, and demonstrate personal initiative in moving projects along. You must have the ability to identify and evaluate source material for veracity and accuracy. You must use good judgment in regarding highly sensitive information. You must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. You must demonstrate professional and courteous telephone etiquette. You must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You must have the ability to work cooperatively and courteously in a team environment. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Qualifications (not required): Studying or graduated with a degree in communications, public administration, public affairs, political science, public relations, English, journalism, or other humanities is preferred.
