Description Dauphin County Department of Public Safety is currently accepting applications for varied shift positions of Part Time Security Officer. An employee in this position will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of buildings and grounds for County employees and the general public. He/she reports to the shift supervisor daily. The following opportunities are available for Part Time Security Officers at Dauphin County: *Part Time: $9.84-$14.25/hr *Hourly Wage increases up to $4.50 per hour with Merit Raise *Paid Professional Training, Paid Orientation, Flexible Schedule, 8 hr. shifts. *Opportunities to transfer to become a full-time employee *Biweekly pay *Direct Deposit is available *Shift differential pay includes: *Weekend Premium Pay (SAT and SUN): Additional $1.00 per hour *15:00-23:00 (3PM-11PM): Additional $0.75 per hour *23:00-07:00 (11PM-7AM): Additional $1.00 per hour Part-Time Security Officers are responsible for performing the following duties: *Operates authorized electronic, electrical, and electrode-mechanical security devices in accordance with established policy and procedure *Screens building visitors for weapons prior to entry using electronic devices; secures weapons as necessary *Directs building visitors to appropriate buildings, departments and/or individuals *Monitors buildings to ensure safety and security of building visitors and staff *Makes rounds routinely both inside and outside of facilities; checks alarm systems *Summons and assists emergency services when necessary; files incident reports *Documents and investigates events observed or reported, and makes appropriate notifications within and outside County government *Maintains required logs, reports and forms as necessary; completes required reports *Attends mandated instruction classes; establishes and maintains associated certifications Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements Graduation from high school or an accredited equivalency program. One (1) year of security experience is preferred, but not mandatory. Other Requirements The qualified candidate must be at least 18 years of age by the date of hire. A favorable criminal background check is required.
