DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Museum Registrar supports and improves the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission's (PHMC) collections database, ARGUS.net, managing the input and improvement of information/images in support of museum collections management processes and collection projects so the database can be used to support the PHMC's mission to preserve, document, and share collection information. The Museum Registrar will establish and maintain data standards, policies, and documentation; enter data and provide reports; perform periodic testing to ensure data integrity; train and assist users; review and plan for the integration of legacy information into existing records; liaison with all internal and external stakeholders to provide support for continued efficient and effective implementation and publication of digital collection information.
The Museum Registrar will also assist the Collections Management team with existing workflows including processing new collections, cataloging, inventorying, identifying, describing, lending, borrowing, and deaccessioning of objects and specimens from The State Museum of Pennsylvania and PHMC's Historic Sites and Museums.
This is a professional registration position requiring knowledge of museum collections management practices and database administration.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of professional museum registration or curatorial work experience; or
A master's degree in Museum Studies, American Studies, American History, or related field.
Other Requirements:
You must possess one or more years of full-time professional experience administering a formal collections database at a historic house museum/site, a general history museum, a natural history museum, an archives, or a science museum (not for personal collection or collector).
