CEF of EPA Ministry Assistant in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Ministry Assistant -- Teach bible studies to elementary students from a variety of cultural and international backgrounds in an extracurricular bible class setting and provide administrative support to facilitate these courses. Duties include presenting bible lessons to classes of 10-30 children ages 6-12 at a variety of locations including schools, churches, recreation centers, daycares, and private homes; assessing the cultural background of each student to ensure that lessons are delivered in a way that is culturally appropriate and effective; teaching and modeling Christ's message of love, peace, and salvation; assembling, printing, and distributing teaching materials for elementary bible classes as well as Summer Missionary Training School and other training events; participating in religious education and training programs for CEF teachers and volunteers; supporting hosted religious education and training events at State Headquarters and other locations; increasing awareness of the ministry by giving presentations of appropriate length at churches and other Christian events; and performing administrative duties as needed to support these ministry activities, including answering telephone inquiries regarding bible classes and training events, ordering necessary supplies, maintaining files, and compiling statistics for reports.

Position requires (1) Bachelor's degree in religion, education, cultural studies, global studies, or similar field directly related to the position. (2) 12 months of experience in a child-focused position with a non-profit organization. Experience may have been gained via employment or volunteer work. (3) Experience teaching and preparing for children's bible studies or Sunday school for at least one school year (75 hours). (4) Must be a practicing Christian. (5) Must submit to complete background check within one week of hire to confirm eligibility to work with children. (6) Local travel 1-2 days per week to teach bible clubs in schools, churches, recreation centers, daycares, and private homes. (7) Salary $30k/year. Optional on-site housing benefit currently valued at $1,300 per month. Employee is not required to live on-site but benefit applies only to on-site housing.
