    Core Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in training or lead role or similar responsibilities

  • 3+ years’ experience performing billing and claim follow-up work with direct hospital billing and/ or physician

  • Experience with at least one of these payer types is required, with multiple being preferred: Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, Blue Cross Blue Shield, or Commercial Insurers

  • UB04 and 1500 Experience is preferred

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Technical schooling in medical billing/coding and/or a college degree in a related field is a plus

A Day in the Role:

  • Supporting all of the billers, they will have to jump in as needed. Take escalated situations, documenting things appropriately.

  • Aid the follow-up/billing staff through ongoing training and skill development related to insurance billing and account resolution.

  • To provide thorough follow-up and/or re-billing of unresolved hospital (UB04) and possibly physician (1500) insurance claims.

  • Learn how to use a variety of patient accounting systems and assist staff in using these systems for the purpose of billing and resolving insurance claims in a timely manner

  • Act as a “front-line” resource for staff questions, account related issues and coaching the team to assist in making them a productive, effective work unit

  • Complete review of staff performance through account audits and productivity reporting

  • Work with Supervisor to implement coaching program and improvement plan for underperforming staff

  • Responsible for performing claim research and claims follow-up work with multiple insurance companies either by electronic system or phone depending on insurer, to resolve accounts which have been billed but remain unresolved

Work Environment:

  • Business Service center.

  • Open office plan with cubicle environment.

  • Monday-Friday: 8a-5pm, 42 hour work week. 30 minute lunch

  • This position would be ON SITE
