Commonwealth of Pennsylvania High Voltage Electrician in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

The Department of General Services is in need of a High Voltage Electrician to provide ongoing maintenance and upgrades to our state-of-the-art system. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a High Voltage Electrician, you will perform a variety of highly-skilled tasks while working with voltage levels of 66,000 volts and below. This work includes installation, test, repair, and maintenance of a variety of electrical machinery, devices, and associated equipment. You will also maintain the efficient operation of various parts of an electrical generating and distribution system.

Work will be performed within the Harrisburg Capitol Complex, Governor's Residence, Lieutenant Governor's Residence, and the Regional Office Buildings. This is a 5-day, 16-hour a day operation subject to shift work. You will work at heights in excess of 60 feet while standing on very small platforms and in confined spaces including manholes and vaults.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This is considered an essential position. You may be required to work during emergencies and office closings. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of a High Voltage Electrician Training program; or Six years of journey-level electrical experience, including eighteen months of experience in high voltage electrical work.

Special Requirements: This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.

Conditions of Employment: This position requires possession of a valid Master Electrician License from a recognized licensing authority.

Additional Requirements: You must obtain a Master Electrician License from the City of Harrisburg before the end of the six-month probationary period.

This position is located at 509 North 7th Street, Harrisburg, PA.  You must be willing and able to report to this location daily for work. You must be willing and able to work different shifts. You must be able to work in confined spaces. You must have at least 18 months industrial/commercial style switchgear experience. You must demonstrate professionalism, the ability to communicate effectively, and interact and work well with others and in groups. You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required): Possess computer/technologies experience in any of the following: Word, Excel, AIM work order, ESS system, smart phone, email. Experience working from ladders, scaffolding, bucket truck or manlifts while following safety procedures.
