The Department of Transportation (DOT) is seeking a positive and motivated Environmental Planner 2 to become a valuable member of our team! In this role, you will support department staff in incorporating the department's environmental programs, policies, and procedures into the planning, development, construction, operation, and maintenance of transportation facilities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As an Environmental Planner 2, you will be responsible for the development, review, evaluation, and administration of transportation related environmental documents, programs, and policies. You will assist in researching environmental, physical, economic, and social impacts; analyzing and interpreting the data; and determining the significance and applications to the Department of Transportation. Other duties you will be responsible for include, but are not limited to the following: Assisting in the preparation of technical studies or background reports on the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) processes, air quality, noise, and natural resource related issues Developing and conducting presentations for commissions, boards, civic groups, and federal agencies Assisting in meetings to explain environmental planning and development process activities Working closely with state and federal agencies to obtain consensus on transportation projects and decisions Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience as an Environmental Planner 1; or Five years of progressive professional experience in local, regional, or state environmental planning; or A Master's degree in planning or one of the environmental sciences and two years of progressive professional environmental planning experience; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
