The Central Area Office of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) is in search of an Emergency Management Specialist (EMS) who possesses these qualities. In this role, you will provide crucial operational support and guidance to the 23 counties in the central area of Pennsylvania. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a team member in this role, you will work closely with other PEMA team members and county emergency management staff daily.  Your primary responsibility will be providing operational support to the 23 counties within our region.  Additionally, you will collaborate with county partners on a variety of activities ranging from researching information, hazard mitigation, recovery, and logistics.  Frequent travel to attend meetings and assist with various programs will be required.  During times of disaster, you will provide liaison support to our counties and assist with damage assessments and other recovery efforts.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, after the successful completion of a comprehensive on-site training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of the Emergency Management Trainee program (commonwealth title); or Two years of professional experience in the development, coordination, or promotion of emergency management programs such as disaster relief, public safety, flood mitigation and resiliency, and emergency management in government, industry, education, or the military; and a bachelor's degree; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional experience in the development, coordination, or promotion of emergency management programs such as disaster relief, public safety, flood mitigation and resiliency, and emergency management in government, industry, education, or the military.

Necessary Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid Class C driver's license. All positions require certification in the following courses from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Emergency Management Institute, within six months of hire: IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System IS-800.D: National Response Framework, An Introduction IS-2200: Basic Emergency Operations Center Functions
