DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this internship role, you will have the opportunity to acquire practical knowledge in the areas of reclamation project planning, development, and design, as well as conducting environmental studies. Your responsibilities will involve aiding in the creation of project development packages, encompassing preliminary design, cost estimates, site sketches with property maps and deed information, property owner contact forms, and inventory searches. Additionally, you will assist in inventorying abandoned mine features, reviewing and analyzing mine permits and bond information, conducting field investigations, and collecting samples and measurements of mine discharges and acid mine drainage.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment The employment period will occur between the dates of 5/1/24 - 8/30/24. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on a schedule that aligns with their supervisor, so they are in the office on the same days. No full time telework will be approved. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree, or advanced degree program in one of the following majors: Geology Geoscience GeoEnvironmental Science An approved major course of study at an accredited college or university Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher) Freshman year completed Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university Additional Requirements: This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
